Pool Maintenance Tips From A Los Angeles Pool Designer

Having our Los Angeles pool designer build a swimming pool for you can quickly elevate the value of your property. However, the construction is just one part of the coin. The second most important part of owning a pool is keeping it attractive. A pool comes with responsibilities. If you don't take care of it, it will be dirty and unhealthy for swimming. You'll no longer be able to host those neighborhood parties you used to because you'll be ashamed of how your pool looks.

Here are the top pool maintenance tips from our Los Angeles, pool designer:

1) Take Care Of The Filter

Your pool filter is as important as the pool itself. If you want to keep your pool clean and healthy, you need to clean it regularly. This is because it is the filter that removes all the impurities from your pool. If it gets clogged, it will not function well. At least once every month, clean out the filter system which includes the filter and all the pipes it uses. All you'll need to do is backwash, remove the filter basket and clean it thoroughly. After that, turn it on until you start seeing clear water.

2) Scrubbing And Skimming Are Vital

Leaves and other debris that get into your pool can decay and contaminate the water. It might seem like it's not effective but skimming regularly can help keep your pool clean. A robot vacuum can be used to clean the bottom of the pool effectively. Also, take out time to scrub the sides of the pool to get rid of algae before it builds up. Don't worry; you don't need to do it every day. You can scrub it once a week for efficiency. If the spots are stubborn, fill an old sock with chlorine and leave it on top of the pool for a while. After a few hours, try scrubbing it again.

3) Keep Chemical Levels Consistent

It is important that you keep the chemical levels of your pool consistent. This is the most important part of pool maintenance. If the chemical level isn't correct, the pool will look murky and may start to irritate the eyes and skin. It is a good idea to test the water once every week to make sure it is neither too alkaline or too acidic.

4) Watch Your Water Level

The chemical composition of the water isn't the only thing you need to take note of. The level of the water itself is important. The water levels will fluctuate naturally due to weather conditions. So, it is important that you take note of the level to make sure it is halfway above the opening of the skimmer. Use a garden hose to add to the water and use a submersible pump to drain excess water when necessary. Note that when the water level fluctuates, the chemical balance will also fluctuate. Make sure you check the chemical levels after adjusting the water.

These are the top four tips from our professional Los Angeles, pool designer. Follow this tips, and your pool will look prestige every day of the year.
